ROYC Innovates: August 2026
Most fund data already exists somewhere in the system. The challenge is finding it. To break down committed capital by investor type, create a compliance record across jurisdictions, or reconcile calls against distributions, these tasks still go through a heavily manual process, queued behind other work, difficult to oversee, and carrying very high operational risk. Not to mention the time it takes.
Fund Data, Accessible Easily
Through our proprietary AI agent, ROYC gives GPs and fund administrators structured access and the ability to ask a question directly and immediately get a structured answer. And it is all drawn from the same data used for reporting and compliance across the platform, ensuring consistency, compliance and audit trails.
In practice, this means:
- Custom reports and compliance records available without delay
- Ad hoc analysis that once took days or weeks completed in a single conversation
- No dependency on a person's availability to retrieve the data
- The same underlying data, extracted and structured by AI, used consistently across reporting, compliance, and one-off queries
Built for Context, Not Generic Search
This is not a separate search tool or another reporting layer. It provides a direct way for teams to access the structured fund data already available across the platform, using natural language. An AI agent interprets the question and returns a structured answer, instead of teams relying on manually prepared exports.
A question about called capital, uncalled commitments, or an investor’s cumulative distributions can be answered using the same underlying data available to reporting, compliance, and operational workflows. This gives teams a faster and more consistent way to retrieve the information they need, without changing how that data is governed.
Part of a Broader Shift, Not a Standalone Feature
This isn’t a search box sitting apart from everything else ROYC is building. As Jonas Lundberg, Chief Architect and AI Lead at ROYC, said: “The objective has not been to automate individual tasks, but to improve how processes run from start to finish.”
Natural-language access to fund data follows that same logic. It doesn’t introduce a new manual step or a separate tool to check. It connects data that already exists, structured and governed, directly to the people who need an answer, whether that’s a fund administrator preparing for a capital call, a GP fielding an investor question, or a compliance team pulling records ahead of an audit.
Built on the Same Governance as Everything Else
Access to fund data carries the same requirements as any other part of the platform. Every query operates within clearly bounded permissions, scoped to what that user is entitled to see. Every request is auditable, so there is a record of what was asked and what was returned. The underlying data handling also complies with GDPR, ISO 27001, and fund-specific data requirements.
Faster access does not mean looser control. If anything, a single, governed way of requesting data removes the inconsistency that arises when every team builds its own workaround.
Why This Matters
Private markets teams have spent years working around the lag between asking a question and getting an answer, building spreadsheets and side processes to compensate. Removing that lag does not simply save time: it changes how quickly a GP or fund administrator can act on what the data shows, and how much of a team's time goes into finding information versus using it.
The less time spent retrieving data, the more time available to act on it.
