ROYC Builds AI-Powered Document Classification and Review

How much of your fund operations team's week is spent retyping numbers off PDFs?

How many hours go into opening a quarterly report, figuring out what kind of document it is, finding the right investor, and hand-keying the same figures into a portal, for the fifth time that day?

And how confident are you that nothing got mistyped along the way?

We made document ingestion based on a simple idea: the document should tell the system what it is.

1. Automatic input type detection

Drop in a file and the platform works out what it's looking at, whether that's a quarterly report, monthly report, financial statement, contract note, order confirmation, dividend notice, investor account statement, capital call or distribution. Spreadsheets are matched deterministically on their structure; PDFs are classified by an AI model. No dropdown archaeology before you can start. And if the system isn't confident, it says so and asks rather than guessing.

2. Import and side-by-side review

Once classified, the relevant fields are extracted and pre-filled, then shown next to a live preview of the source document. The operator reads the PDF on one side and the extracted data on the other, confirms or corrects in place, picks recipients, previews the exact investor-facing output, and sends. Manual input always overrides the model. The work shifts from data entry to verification, which is what an experienced ops professional should actually be doing.

3. Documents arrive however your counterparties send them

REST API, SFTP integration from your custodian or fund administrator, plain manual upload: everything converges on the same pipeline, the same classification, the same review screen, the same audit trail. No separate rules engine for the automated feed and a different process for the email attachment your admin sent at 6pm on a Friday.

Why this matters for you as a GP
  • Reporting cycle time drops because classification and extraction happen in seconds, not minutes per document
  • Errors get caught at review, against the source document, before anything reaches an investor
  • Onboarding a new ops hire no longer means memorising which template goes with which document type
  • One consistent audit path regardless of how a document entered the platform
  • Scaling AUM and investor count stops meaning a linear increase in manual keystrokes

AI here isn't a chatbot bolted onto a portal. It does the unglamorous, high-volume classification and extraction work, with a human confirming every output before an investor ever sees it.
